挑战
Customers are looking for food and fast serving time when they come to a fast-food restaurant, the world-leading restaurant introduces the self-service food ordering KIOSK linked to kitchen computer monitors to fulfill customers’ needs and better their in-store experience.
There are challenges to building the in-store KIOSK systems for 24/7 self-service food ordering, they need a reliable and high-quality motherboard with feature-rich IOs to power the versatile KIOSK applications, such as LVDS and USB port to connect Touch Panel for self-service food ordering, COM port for credit card machine to checkout, and USB port for receipt printer and more. Besides, the 24V power input support will enable the KIOSK always-on working.
To meet the customers’ needs, it requires not only a standard high reliable and feature-rich motherboard but also an ODM service to customize the board for the versatile KIOSK applications.

ASRock Industrial partners with the fast-food restaurant to build the self-service food ordering KIOSK, powered by the Mini-ITX IMB-184 ODM board, an 4th generation Intel® Core™ Processor (Haswell) with Q87 chipset, for a reliable and always-on KIOSK computing to fulfill 24/7 customer service. The IMB-184 ODM board with LVDS and USB ports to connect Touch Panel for self-service food ordering and one USB port for the coupon barcode scanner.
Upon the food selection is made on the touch panel, the IMB-184 ODM board with COM/ USB ports to connect the credit card machine for checkout and another USB port for receipt printer to complete the self-service food ordering process. Once new orders are made, the Intel® 1 Gigabit LAN will connect data to the food preparing system in the kitchen to speed up the food serving time.
The standard IMB-184 motherboard with 19V power support meets most of the customer’s needs to build the KIOSK system; however, they were looking for 24V power support in the KIOSK project. To fulfill the customer’s need, we customized the IMB-184 ODM board to support 24V power input and introduced the new IMB-1213 motherboard, an Intel® 9th/ 8th generation Coffee Lake-S Core™ Processor with Q370 chipset, supports up to 28V DC-in that is recommended for new customers looking for the KIOSK solution.
